Many publishers choose to focus most development effort on the rendering and appearance of their finished title, often to the detriment of actual gameplay, creating a sort of curated art gallery. We feel this ultra-realistic and immersive market segment is well-saturated, and even perpetuated by modern third-party game engines which obviate the need for low-level technical experience.
At Rigaudon Games, we want to bring the capabilities of the latest GPU and shader technology to bear against the more abstract motifs that have proven to work in the past, with clean, simple graphics and highly satisfying and addictive gameplay. The sounds, physics, and finer points of game design must be present and tightly integrated.
We do not see our target as a niche novelty per se (e.g. "retro" games) but believe there is a genuine market for straight-up games in the mold of many hits from 30-40 years ago. This has been borne out by our own market research.
Our inaugural title, Right Flank, a maze-based tank search-and-destroy title, can be played in simplified demo form.
